Active – A person must meet A, B or C and also D (within 5 years of issuance date of membership certificate) and E and F of the following:

A Have a Baccalaureate Degree from accredited college or university with a major in accounting or business administration with 12 hours in accounting; OR
B Have Associate Degree from accredited college or university, two-year college, trade or technical school with at least 16 hours of accounting; OR
C Have 3 or more years experience in performance of accounting services for the public as his/her principal occupation, either self-employed, member of a partnership, principal of an accounting firm or a senior employee; AND
D Successfully passed the Treasury Card examination or holds a Treasury Card, or has successfully passed the Accreditation Examination in Accountancy or Tax by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Tax, or 2 parts of uniform CPA Exam (excluding Business Law), or holds a P.A. License or CPA Certificate; AND
E Maintains an office for, or is employed in an office for rendering accounting and tax services to the general public. Such office shall be located in Missouri or in an adjoining state.
F Active members must maintain continuing education requirements.

Associate – Practitioners not qualifying as Active members. No continuing education requirements.

Firm Associate – You can only become a Firm Associate Member if a Principal of your firm is already a member of MSA.

Student – Those pursuing a course of study in accounting, business administration and/or related subjects in college, university or business school.
